AP Graduate in Chemical and Biotechnical Science

 Upper secondary school leaving examination (mathematics, science, chemistry)

 

 

Purpose and aims.

The purpose of the course is:

To qualify the graduate to be able to plan and carry out laboratory projects connected with production, development, consultation or supervision in the laboratories of both private and public organizations.

The standard length of the course is 2½ years, equivalent to 150 ECTS points.

The compulsory section totals 80 ECTS points and the optional section 20 ECTS points. Laboratory practice totals 50 ETCS points.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
The compulsory section contains subjects as:

·         Proteins

·         Enzyme production

·         Molecular Biology (DNA technology)

·         Microbiology

·         Chromatography

·         Photometrical methods

·         Chemical syntheses

 

 

And optional subjects, examples:           

·         Mammalian Cell Cultivation

·         Food Microbiology

·         Fermentation in 3 L Computer Controlled Fermentors

·         Trace Element Analysis

·         Characterization of Pharmaceuticals

·         Analysis of Chlorinated Pesticides

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The optional section consists of:

1.      Special study (10 ECTS)

2.      Final examination project (10 ECTS)

The laboratory placement takes place in private or public institutions.

 

Occupation

Laboratory Technicians are employed at research and development laboratories, at analytical QA laboratories in the pharmaceutical industry and at public institutions.
